Responding in times of need
As a citizen of the global community, Bayer seeks to assist those in need and lessen human suffering. The company donates a wide range of products in response to natural disasters, to assist charitable programs and in answer to individual needs.
Some examples of Bayer’s initiatives in this area include:
- In 2009 Bayer provided financial aid of A$100,000 (NZ$119,700) to the Australian Red Cross to assist victims of the devastating bushfires in Victoria and the floods in Northern Queensland. Bayer employees also contributed to the cause, raising over $16,000 (NZ$19,000). In addition to this, Bayer coordinated blood donations at each major Bayer site and supplied health and animal products to the victims and volunteers.
- The Australian Paralympic team received donations of energy supplement Berocca from Bayer to keep their energy levels high during the latest Paralympic Games.
- Bayer’s Animal Health division assists numerous animal welfare charities in Australia and New Zealand by donating products, such as Advocate, Drontal, Advantix and Advantage, to protect cats and dogs against parasites, fleas and ticks.
