Bayer Support of Patient Groups
Bayer is committed to providing support to patient groups (often called Health Consumer Organisations or HCOs) with the goal of providing patients with disease related information to enhance quality use of medicines and to support better health outcomes for the Australian community.
When working with patient groups, Bayer follows the principles and guidelines of ‘Working Together: A Guide to relationships between Health Consumer Organisations and Pharmaceutical Companies’. This guide was developed through a collaborative partnership between Medicines Australia (the peak body representing the innovative pharmaceutical industry) and the Consumers Health Forum (the peak Australian body for HCOs).
Bayer adheres to the key principals of the guide which include:
- Respect for independence
- Achieving and maintaining public trust
- Fairness
- Openness and transparency
- Accountability
