Bayer Australia - Not for Profit Partnerships

Not for Profit Partnerships

In Australia Bayer is proud to support Mission Australia and Aussie Helpers as our main not-for-profit partners. In New Zealand Bayer supports United Way.

Mission Australia

Mission Australia Logo

Mission Australia operates more than 400 services across metropolitan, rural and regional Australia – in every state and territory – and last year assisted more than 300,000 people.

Mission Australia has been helping change the lives of individuals and families in need for 150 years. They make a real difference by working with people through their challenges and enabling them to pursue more positive, independent lives.

Through their programs and services, they aim to combat homelessness; assist families and children to overcome hardship; support disadvantaged young people; deliver entry-level training; and help unemployed people find permanent work.

Toby Hall, CEO, Mission Australia explains, “The support we receive from companies like Bayer and their staff is absolutely invaluable to Mission Australia in continuing its work with Australians in need.”

Aussie Helpers

Aussie Helpers Logo

Bayer has recently embarked on a new partnership with Aussie Helpers, a charity that works tirelessly to tackle the issues created by the worst drought Australia has seen in 100 years and improve life for those “doing it tough” on the land.

Help comes in many forms from Aussie Helpers. They have around 40 volunteers who mainly work via the ever faithful "Bush Telegraph" to find farming families who are in desperate need of assistance. They deliver hampers of essential goods, provide informal counselling and help in whatever way they can whether it be delivering a truckload of hay to keep the starving stock alive or giving a Christmas present to a child whose family is already deep in debt trying to keep the farm going.

The main focus for Bayer’s investment will be the Aussie Helpers Training Farm located at Mathoura in New South Wales, near the border with Victoria. Here Aussie Helpers will train up disadvantaged young people providing them with skills and helping them create a future for themselves.

“Support from companies like Bayer is invaluable,” says Brian Egan, founder of Aussie Helpers. “With this initiative, these young people will have the opportunity to obtain some on-farm training and employment, while the farmer gets the benefit of having labour on his farm, helping to keep the farm profitable and alleviating some pressure from himself and his family.”

The long-term partnership between Bayer and Aussie Helpers will see Bayer employees volunteering during company time at the farm and fundraising. The partnership will also make use of Bayer products and networks in the rural sector.
